Swinden Quarry is near the village of Grassington in North Yorkshire, about 8 miles north of Skipton. It is approximately 7 and 17 miles respectively from the Embsay & Bolton Abbey and the Keighley & Worth Valley railways.

Drive north from Skipton on the B6265 towards Grassington. Before you reach the village, turn left into the Swinden Quarry entrance which is signposted off the B6265. Drive towards reception and you should see the shunter on the left-hand side of the road.

The shunter is not visible from any passing trains as it is at the end of a freight-only line.
