The Wabtec works are immediately alongside Doncaster station on the west side of the line, and part of the yard is visible from passing trains. For sedentary views, view the yard first from the north end of the platforms on Doncaster station. Also check West Yard - the sidings alongside the south end of the platforms.

For another view, leave Doncaster station on foot and turn right into Sepulchre Gate (one-way street) and right onto St. James's Bridge. Look to the right to view the West Yard by the station and for restricted, distant views of the Works and Wabtec. Cross the bridge and turn right into Hexthorpe Road. As the road bends round to the left, you will see the entrances to both Doncaster Works (straight ahead) and Wabtec (off to the right). Although you will not be able to proceed beyond the security barriers, it should be noted that some people have had success at the weekend by asking at the Works security barrier if you can view the Wabtec yard from the Works road.

It is also possible to view the other side of Wabtec from the road bridge just north of the station - turn left out of the station. Because of current building work, it is currently not possible to walk directly from the station to the bridge - you will have to make a detour through the shopping centre.
