From junction 9 on the M6, take the A461 towards Walsall, and at the first set of lights, fork right on the A4148. After a third of a mile, turn right at the lights into Bescot Crescent and continue round until you see Bescot station car-park on your right. Park and walk under the motorway and over the stream onto the station footbridge to view the depot and north end of the yard. One of the active shunters is normally to be seen here.
Most of the stored shunters are in the middle of the yard. To view the middle and the south end of the yard, from the station footbridge, immediately after crossing the stream on the way back to the car-park, turn right down a footpath alongside the stream. This footpath gives views along the yard and eventually (after two-thirds of a mile) comes out on the entrance road to the yard. Follow the road up to the railway bridge to view the southern end of the yard. One of the active shunters is usually to be found at this end of the yard.
To view from the other side of the yard, return to the motorway roundabout and go straight over on the A461 towards Wednesbury. Turn left at the first set of lights into Woden Road East. After going under the railway bridge, take the next left into Park Hill. At the T-junction, turn left into Coronation Road and first right into Rutland Road. At the T-junction, turn left into Kent Road. The yard can be viewed from the grassy area behind the Woodlands Social Club on Kent Road.
